This Sunday, 14th June, several students from St. Michaelโs will celebrate a very special milestone in their faith journey as they receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at St. Michaelโs Parish. Across three parish Masses throughout the day, these students will receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time, surrounded by their families, friends, and parish community. This sacred occasion marks an important step in their relationship with Christ and their participation in the life of the Church. As a school community, we congratulate these students and pray that they continue to grow in faith, hope, and love as they walk with Jesus. ๐โจ Learning in Action โจ๐ This term, Year 4 have been engaged in rich and collaborative learning experiences across a range of curriculum areas. ๐ข In Mathematics, students explored decimals on a number line, developing their understanding of tenths and hundredths. Through hands-on activities, they practised locating, comparing and ordering decimal numbers, strengthening their place value knowledge. ๐ During Reading Groups, students worked collaboratively to build their literacy skills. Through targeted activities, they explored grammar concepts, expanded their vocabulary and practised handwriting, supporting one another as they developed confidence and fluency in their learning. โ๏ธ In Religion, students listened to the Scripture of the Ten Commandments and reflected on the question, โWhy do people sometimes do the wrong thing?โ They explored how our faith, values and conscience can help guide us to make positive choices. Students then expressed their learning creatively through biblical micrography, carefully illustrating key messages from Scripture. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork and thoughtful engagement our students have demonstrated throughout the term. ๐

Today, our Stage 3 students participated in Stories of Strength, a powerful workshop presented by Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) as part of our World Refugee Week initiatives. Students deepened their understanding of the global and Australian refugee experience, listened to inspiring personal stories, and heard from a guest speaker who shared their lived experience as a refugee. Through thoughtful discussions and a Q&A session, students explored the importance of welcome, dignity, belonging, and advocacy for others. We are proud of the respectful and empathetic way our students engaged with this meaningful learning experience, reflecting on how they can make a positive difference in their communities. ๐๐
