A Christmas Without Joy is No Christmas at All As part of our Outreach activities each year we collect non-perishable items for the St Michael’s St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference (Vinnies) Christmas Appeal. We ask that you support this worthwhile appeal so we can help the members of our community who are less fortunate than ourselves to celebrate Christmas in a special way. Your generosity can help bring joy and comfort to our community this Christmas. Students are asked to bring in an item/s listed for their class by Tuesday, 9th December 2025. To celebrate your generosity, your child may wear CHRISTMAS MUFTI clothes on Tuesday, 9th December. That could be a Christmas t-shirt, reindeer ears, a Christmas hat, tinsel or anything coloured red, green, white or gold. (A reminder that the students need to wear appropriate shoes if they have Sport or Creative Arts on Tuesday.) Kindergarten: Canned fruit, salad items such as beetroot, asparagus, corn, bean mix etc Year 1: Lollies, nuts, chips Year 2: Condiments such as pickled onions, gherkins mustard, pickles and sauces such as cranberry, apple sauce, gravy etc Year 3: Biscuits (sweet or savoury), fruit mince tarts Year 4: Soft drinks, fruit poppers Year 5: Long life milk and custard, tea or coffee, condensed milk, carnation milk Year 6: Christmas Cake, Christmas Pudding If these items are hard to find, Vinnies will accept any non-perishable food items or Christmas decorations suitable for a wonderful Christmas celebration. What does non-perishable mean? Food that is processed or packaged so it will last for an extended period of time. This means no fresh food only packaged or canned food.

Parish News: Mary Queen of the Family parish initiative: a stage production of ‘The Witness’. This inspiring project aims to bring our community together through creativity, faith, and collaboration. The production seeks to share the powerful message of hope and renewal, engaging hearts and minds through music, drama, and storytelling. It is an opportunity for our parishioners and students to grow in faith while developing their talents in a vibrant, supportive environment. The Presentation Sisters are a group of Catholic women founded by Nano Nagle who dedicated their lives to educating the poor and caring for those in need. When the Presentation Sisters came to the Blacktown area, they helped shape the Catholic community by building schools, supporting families and living out their values of compassion, service and faith. At St Michael’s Blacktown South the Legacy of the Presentation Sisters is still an important part of the identity of St Michael’s and our commitment to learning kindness and helping others continue to inspire students and staff today. Our school carries forward the mission of the Presentation Sisters by encouraging everyone to live with respect, show love to others and work for justice just as Nano Nagle and the Presentation Sisters did.

Forget Christmas, the most important event on the calendar has been and gone! The St Michael's Chess Championship for 2025! 33 gladiators entered the arena and were forced to battle through 7 long rounds, were their eyes fixed firmly on the podium. Some great matches, big emotions and epic victories ensued. When the dust finally settled our victor was crowned, Keert from Year 5 went through with a perfect 7 from 7!! Keeping it in the family her brother Jaibir from Year 3 placed 2nd, edging out James and Dev from Year 5, who placed equal 3rd! From 3rd all they way to 8th they all finished on 5 points, showing just how close the competition was! Thank you to Mr Luckman for giving these opportunities! Well done everyone!
